ATTENTION MMTA MEMBERS

Are you ready to be compliant with Maine’s brand-new Paid Family and Medical Leave law?  Many probably haven’t even started thinking about it, but now is the time to get organized in order to avoid unnecessary surprises and the complications of scrambling around at the last moment.  There are many key deadlines upcoming – including July 8th, January 2025 and May 2026 – and MMTA members need to be prepared.

MMTA is pleased to announce a one-hour Zoom meeting dedicated to this topic, graciously hosted by Acadia Benefits.  The meeting will start at 9am on Tuesday, June 18th and the invitation details to attend are below and a calendar invite is attached.  You do not need to register and this session is open to every MMTA member and all of your staff as well.  Kevin Kennedy and the Acadia Benefits team will discuss and take questions about:

  • Important timelines and deadlines;
  • The draft PFML rules and how you can let your voice be heard;
  • Private option versus public option plans;
  • Next steps to prepare your company.

We hope you will join us on the 18th to hear about Maine’s PFML and also to ask questions that can benefit your company and others on the call.  This meeting will be recorded and posted on the MMTA’s website for those unable to attend.  For a primer on the issues, Acadia Benefits has some useful resources on their website here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Brian or Tim at the MMTA.
