The next Membership and Board of Directors meetings will be held Wednesday October 12, 2022. The meetings will be held IN-PERSON at the MMTA Office on Whitten Road in Augusta. Breakfast will be served (generously sponsored by Great West Casualty) with the Membership meeting starting at 7:30 a.m. sharp.
The meeting will kick off with a presentation from Chris Maxwell – President of our sister trucking association in Rhode Island – who will talk about one of the biggest legal wins ever for the trucking industry. Chris and the ATA successfully fought the discriminatory truck-only tolling scheme in RI, signaling to other states that messing with the trucking industry results in negative consequences.
We will also have a presentation from Zach Lingley and Jim Cohen from Mainers for Affordable Energy about their efforts to defeat the creation of a consumer-owned utility in Maine.
The rest of the agenda will address the regular industry reports, a rundown of important Maine legislative issues as we gear up for the 131st Maine legislature, as well as an update on MMTA events and activities. Click here for next week’s agenda.
We also hope to be able to discuss the development of relief efforts for our friends in Florida. Up to now, they have been focusing on rescues and basic services, but we anticipate relief and supply organization will start to take shape in the coming days.
We hope you will join us on the 12th!
